Plainview defeats Scottsboro

RAINSVILLE—Despite trailing at halftime and heading into the final quarter, the Plainview boys varsity team was able to battle back and steal a 80-76 victory from Scottsboro during the Bears season-opener on Thursday night.
The victory gave Plainview’s new head coach Jason Bell a victory during his inaugural game at the helm for the Bears. Plainview senior guard Dana Wright led his team’s fast-paced offense with 29 points on the night, including five treys in the win.
The Bears’ Jacob Malone finished with 14 points and nine rebounds while Blake Wigley, Gabe Graham and James Boland added seven points each. Colby Dixson closed with five assists on the night.
Crossville 64, Douglas 47
At home, the Lions held a one-point advantage over the Eagles at the half on Friday, and expanded their lead to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Kole Richards led Crossville with 19 points, Brett Bouldin had 15 and Justin Mayo closed with 12 points. Tyler Gaylor added eight points and five assists in the win. Richards, Bouldin and Mayo all finished with four rebounds each for the Lions.
Sardis, 64, Geraldine 51
On the road Friday night, the Bulldogs held a two-point halftime advantage but couldn’t maintain their lead during the second half.
Tyler Malone and Ty Rooks each finished with a team-high 12 points in the effort. Matthew Cole closed with eight, and Clint Willoughby added six points for Geraldine.
Ider 71, P. R. Valley 65
On the road, Matthew Hammonds led the Hornets with 33 points in the victory.
Cory Crabtree closed with 11 points while Cole Spurgeon and Mark Young each added eight apiece.
