Following victories by Plainview and Collinsville last week, a total of six local teams will play on following the conclusion of the regular season tomorrow.
The Bears secured the No. 3 seed in Class 4A, Region 7 with a victory over visiting DAR Friday night, earning their 20th consecutive playoff berth. The win means Plainview will travel to Deshler next week. Deshler was the No. 2 finisher in Region 8.
Both Sylvania and Pisgah made the playoffs in Class 3A, Region 6. The Rams earned home-field advantage in the opening round of the postseason after securing the No. 2 seed a few weeks ago. They’ll host Tarrant, which ended as the No. 3 team in Region 5, later next week. Pisgah, which is the No. 4 seed, will travel to Region 5 champion Leeds.
In Class 2A, Region 6, Geraldine and Fyffe both earned a spot in the postseason. The Bulldogs finished No. 2 and will host Woodland, which earned the No. 3 slot in Region 5, next week. Meanwhile, the No. 3 Red Devils will travel to Lanett, the No. 2 squad in Region 5.
Collinsville won a thriller over rival Valley Head Friday night, earning their first playoff berth since 2001. As the No. 4 finisher in Class 1A, Region 6, the Panthers will travel to Region 5 champion Appalachian.
